Contact UsHow does an implant compare to a bridge or a denture?
Dental Implant | Dentures | Bridge |
---|---|---|
Can last 10-20 years or more when well taken care of. | Usually last around 5-8 years on average. | Usually last between 8-10 years. |
Are implanted into the jawbone, so they feel more natural. | Have to be removed and soaked in solution before going to bed. | No special care required, but they do not feel quite as natural as implants. |
Implants mimic the tooth roots and jaw, help maintain jawbone health, and don’t require nearby teeth to be modified. | Traditional dentures don’t promote jawbone health. They can also cause gum sores. | Bridges don’t promote jawbone health. The adjacent teeth also need to be reshaped, which damages them. |
Exceptional cosmetic and functional result. | Excellent cosmetic result. Dentures can be supported by implants for better function. | Great cosmetic result. Decent functional result. |
Dental Fillings
Our team uses both amalgam (silver) and composite (tooth-colored) fillings to repair teeth that have been damaged by tooth decay. Amalgam fillings are made of strong metals that make them very durable and long-lasting. Composite fillings blend in with the rest of the teeth, and they typically require less of the healthy tooth be removed before they can be applied.
Learn MoreDental Crowns
When a tooth has been affected by tooth decay or trauma, sometimes it will need a custom dental crown placed over it to help protect and strengthen it. They are also used after root canals, large dental fillings, to cover a misshapen or discolored tooth, and to hold a dental bridge in place. Dental crowns are custom designed to look like the surrounding teeth.
Learn MoreRoot Canal Therapy
Infections that occur inside of a tooth usually require a root canal procedure, and they often occur as a result of untreated tooth decay or damage. During a root canal, a small hole is drilled into the top of the tooth, the infected tooth pulp is removed, the tooth is cleaned and sealed, and then a natural-looking dental crown is placed securely over the tooth. Learn MoreTooth Extractions & Oral Surgery
Many dental practices have to refer patients out to oral surgeons when they need surgery, but our team offers these services in-house. We provide dental extractions, including wisdom tooth removal, the most common kind of dental extraction, as well as bone graft surgery for patients who are suffering from bone loss and deterioration.
Learn MoreDental Implants & Dental Bridges
Implants and bridges are both excellent tooth replacement options; the treatment you receive will depend largely on your specific needs. Implants tend to be very stable and typically last for many decades, while dental bridges are less invasive, less expensive, and have a much shorter recovery time.
